The ultimate goal of this course is to foster awareness on the importance that the quality of the User Experience (UX) plays in modern ICT applications, and to give students in the methodological and technical tools to enforce and evaluate such quality. Attendants will be exposed to the main methods and techniques to perform analysis, design, prototyping, and evaluation of interactive systems in a way that takes into account the needs of all involved stakeholders and results into a usable, useful, effective, and pleasant UX. The main topics that will be addressed include: - evolution of user-computer interfaces - the interaction design process - methods for user requirements elicitation and representation - scenario based design - prototyping techniques - UX quality factors - usability evaluation: inspection techniques and user testing techniques - interaction paradigms for innovative user experiences, involving: ubiquitous computing, tangible computing, RFID technology, ambient intelligence, and (multi)touch displays. The above topics will be exemplified through the discussion of case studies and will represent the prerequisite knowledge to carry on the project work, a fundamental component of the course activity and the main basis for the final evaluation.
